A Mii from Wii Sports Club. Miis make their first appearance in the Nintendo Wii’s 2006 launch game, Wii Sports as the playable and background characters. Is Nintendo done with Miis?
Miis Are Still Part Of Nintendo’s Future, But They’re No Longer Compulsory. Miis have been a part of Nintendo gaming for over a decade now, and the company will continue to support the digital avatar system on Switch – although it won’t be compulsory for players to create one.
Why is it called Mii?
Miis get their name from how the word “me” would be written in rōmaji, in the same way that the Wii gets its name from a similar spelling of “we.” Miis are based off of human beings, and players can design what their Miis look like and use them in compatible games.
