Is National Science Bowl prestigious?
California dominates the bowl When it comes to winning National Science Bowl championships, there is no better state than the Golden State of California. So far, teams from California have recorded 11 total high school championships and six middle school championships.
How does the National Science Bowl work?
Every match begins with a toss-up question. The moderator announces the subject of the question (see “Subject Areas” above), as well as its type (Multiple Choice or Short Answer). Once the moderator completes the reading of the question, students have 5 seconds to buzz in and give an answer.

What is the difference between Science Bowl and Science Olympiad?
Science Olympiad tests pure regurgitation (you can bring 3 inch binders or laptops on many of these “open-binder” exams) and promotes fun. Science Bowl, on the other hand, requires a sharp mind, true knowledge, and true teamwork.

Is Science Bowl hard?
While we have had instances of newly-formed Science Bowl teams winning their regional competition and, in one case, placing in the top three at the National Science Bowl, in most instances newly-formed teams find that Science Bowl is a difficult but rewarding activity that requires deliberate preparation.
