Where can I park for free at UConn?
Free, on-street parking is available throughout downtown and is time-limited (see map). The Dog Lane lot is free and limited to two hours. Private lots located within the downtown area offer free parking for their customers.
How does UConn parking work?
University permit parking privileges are strictly enforced between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weekdays unless otherwise posted. After 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and on weekends, permit holders and all others may park in any on-campus space not designated as reserved, restricted, or limited.

Do you have to pay for parking at UConn?
No University parking permits or parking fee payments are required to park after 5:00 p.m. weekdays or on weekends. On the Storrs campus, parking garage rates are charged whenever those facilities are open. Maps identifying the PayByPhone parking locations on each UConn campus are available elsewhere on this site.

Regular Payroll employees on the Storrs and all Regional campuses can apply for their UConn parking permits online. Use your NetID and password to log into your parking account on the Parking Portal to order your payroll deducted permit.

Where can I Park at the downtown Hartford campus?
When parking at the Downtown Hartford Campus, 100% validation will be applied at the Convention Center Garage ( details ). The use of either parking garage on the Storrs Campus or the Scovill Municipal Garage in Waterbury.
What is an area 1 parking permit?
Area 1 parking capacity is located within the central or “academic core” district of the Storrs campus. When available, Area 1 permits may be purchased on a sheltered, pretax basis by those eligible for payroll deductions.

LIMITED Area 3 permit parking spaces are available on the Storrs campus. Area 3 permit-parking spaces are only available on the Storrs and Health Center campuses. Area 3 permit parking is available at no-charge and is only offered to regular payroll employees.
