Where do you place the pads for a muscle stimulator?
One electrode should always be placed on the middle of the muscle belly. When using EMS programs, muscle contraction is a desired effect and should always occur. If no muscle contraction occurs in an EMS program, you have not placed the electrodes correctly or you have chosen a too low intensity.
What is the correct placement for electrode pads?
Place two electrodes on either side of the elbow on the back of your arm. Then place one electrode higher than those and on the side of your arm. Finally, place the last electrode below all the others and again, on the side of your arm.
Where do you place TENS pads for pelvic floor?
Our recommendation is to:
- Place one small electrode on the perineum, i.e. the surface area between the anus and the vulva.
- One large electrode over the sacrum, i.e. the large, triangular bone at the base of the spine and above the coccyx.
Where do you place EMS pads on thighs?
Attach both pads above the knee or above and below the joint with pain. Attach both pads on the calf/ leg where you feel pain. (Do NOT place electrode pads on both legs at the same time). Attach pads per the illustration on the left for pain on the outside of your ankle/foot.
Does EMS work on bum?
Electrical muscle stimulation is a technique that strengthens and repairs the fibres. It contracts the muscles and, therefore, works the glutes, arms and legs as well as any other area desired.
Where do you put the pads for sciatica?
TENS unit electrode placement is critical when using TENS therapy to relieve sciatica pain. For best results position the electrodes on your lower back near the area of pain. Adjust the frequency as necessary and move the electrode pads around as necessary to achieve the best relief from your pain.
How far apart should TENS pads be?
Positioning the pads Position the pads either side of the painful area, at least 2.5cm (1 inch) apart. Never place the pads over: the front or sides of your neck.
Does electrical stimulation help pelvic floor muscles?
Electrical stimulation of the pelvic floor is a painless and effective procedure that treats urinary incontinence, frequency and urgency. This movement strengthens your pelvic floor muscles, which can improve urinary frequency, urgency and incontinence, and increase the strength of the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles.
Can you use a TENS unit for pelvic floor?
External pelvic floor electrodes are a standard component of the InControl kit. DO NOT use a TENS machine designed for pain relief. Use only an EMS machine, with Surging pulses for muscle stimulation.
