What is the GIRFEC legislation?
Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC) is the Scottish Government’s approach to supporting children and young people. It is intended as a framework that will allow organisations who work on behalf of the country’s children and their families to provide a consistent, supportive approach for all.
When did GIRFEC become law?
The GIRFEC approach is based on values and principles which support children’s and parents’ rights. It was developed by people who work with children and young people and reflects feedback from families. It has been used and tested across Scotland since 2006.
