What is the dress code for Ripon races?
Racegoers of all ages are encouraged to dress smartly in the Club Enclosure. We do not insist on suit and tie but we ask that gentlemen wear a shirt and smart trousers. Smart jeans (no rips, tears or fraying) are permitted but t-shirts, sportswear and trainers are not permitted.
Can you take alcohol into Ripon races?
Picnics are welcome in the Course Enclosure and we do offer racegoers the opportunity to bring their own alcoholic drinks to accompany their picnics. Please note there is a maximum allowance of 4 cans per person, or the equivalent, and strictly no glass bottles.
Can you take food into Ripon races?
We have no packages including food/drink available at the moment, we hope to be able to add these to our offering as the return of racegoers draws closer and we are clearer about what our catering possibilities are.
What do you wear to a racecourse?
Although far from compulsory in all enclosures, smart dress is the accepted dress code for racegoers. Trainers and shorts are widely regarded as unacceptable, although not forbidden in some enclosures or at some meetings. The classic Flat racing attire for men is a collared shirt with trousers and smart shoes.
Can you take alcohol into Thirsk races?
You are able to bring alcohol into the family enclosure only as many people like to bring along a picnic, which you are able to do in this enclosure. Please note we do limit one bottle of wine OR four cans of beer / cider per person, and no spirits are allowed.
Can you wear a polo shirt to the races?
No denim jeans of any colour, no trainers, no shorts, no sportswear and no fancy dress will be permitted. For gentlemen a collar is required, either polo shirt or collared shirt. Smart (not ripped) jeans, trousers or chinos are permitted. Ladies are required to wear smart dress.
Can children go to Race Course?
Children under 16 are not permitted entry unless accompanied by a responsible adult (over 18). You are responsible for each child that you bring onto the Racecourse and should ensure each child complies with these Conditions.
Are dogs allowed at Thirsk Racecourse?
No dogs are allowed in ANY racecourse enclosure due to the presence of horses! over a year ago.
Do you have to wear a jacket at York races?
A day at York is special and racegoers choose to dress accordingly. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket, collared shirt and tie in County Stand.. The only common sense restrictions would be those of taste and decency which would apply to all areas, for example regarding style and slogan t-shirts.
