What is Pregaday?
Pregaday is used to prevent and treat low levels of iron and folic acid in the blood during pregnancy after the first thirteen weeks. During pregnancy the body’s demands for iron and folic acid increase. Iron is important for the health of the mother and developing baby.
What is the best supplement to take when pregnant?

- Prenatal vitamins. Prenatal vitamins are multivitamins that are specially formulated to meet the increased demand for micronutrients during pregnancy.
- Folate.
- Iron.

- Magnesium.

What is the daily iron requirement in pregnancy?
You need at least 27 mg of iron, but try not to get more than 45 mg each day during your pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Be sure to take iron supplements exactly as your doctor recommends. Iron supplements may cause nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea.
Should you take folic acid after 12 weeks?
By 12 weeks, the baby’s neural tube should have closed so you don’t need to take folic acid. But it isn’t harmful to take it all the way through your pregnancy. So, you can carry on if you are taking pregnancy multivitamin tablets that contain it.
Is Pregaday discontinued?

Galfer FA® capsules (ferrous fumarate 305mg and folic acid 350micrograms) were discontinued earlier this year.
Which trimester is iron most important?

Does folic acid make you gain weight?
There is no evidence that people with adequate blood levels of folic acid will gain weight if they take supplements. However, weight loss is one possible side effect of a folate deficiency. Folic acid should not make you gain weight.
