What is long and short scale?
The long and short scales are two of several large-number naming systems for integer powers of ten that use the same words with different meanings. The long scale is based on powers of one million (1,000,000), whereas the short scale is based on powers of one thousand (1,000).

What is short scale?
When people talk about a short scale, it’s typically 24 3/4 inches, while long scale is over 25 inches. A greater scale length means more tension in the strings, since they have to span a greater distance. Since short-scale guitars have less string tension, they have a little more wiggle room and punch.
