This occurs when liquid fuel is injected into an ambient environment below its saturation pressure. What causes flash boiling?
Flash boiling is the phenomenon that occurs when a liquid is injected into an environment where the ambient pressure is lower than the saturation vapour pressure of the liquid. The heat transfer phenomena occurring in a GDI engine cylinder head can cause the injected fuel to be heated before injection.
