How do you go swimming with a stoma?
Swimming with an Ostomy
- You can swim or be in the water while wearing your pouching system.
- Prior to swimming, make sure your seal is secure.
- Empty your pouch before swimming.
- If you use a filtered pouch, use a filter cover sticker on your deodorizing filter to prevent water from entering the pouch.
Can you cap off a stoma?
The stoma cap is still visible but can be less obtrusive. Again, if you cannot wear a cap, try the mini pouch for a little bit of discretion as it will provide a bit more space in the bag.
Can you go in a swimming pool with a stoma bag?
Having an ostomy should not prevent you from swimming. You can swim or be in the water while wearing your pouching system. Remember, your pouching system is water resistant and is designed not to leak with the proper seal.
