What can you bring into Manuel Antonio?
The public beach outside the park (Espadilla Norte) is open from 5:00am to 6:00pm. You are not allowed to bring any kind of food into the park; beverages are allowed (water, sodas, juice). There’s a small kiosk in the park where snacks can be purchased.
Is Manuel Antonio worth it?
We would highly recommend Manuel Antonio Park during your next trip to Costa Rica. We only dedicated one morning to the park and I think on the next trip we would spend time hiking more of the trails and exploring a larger part of the coast within the park. For us, this park is certainly worth a visit!

Though they aren’t open to the public, if you want to learn more about sloths, they are the place to ask. They do a sloth walk on the Tulemar property in Manuel Antonio every day which is only open to Tulemar guests (we saw 10 sloths when we were there!)

Is it better to stay in Quepos or Manuel Antonio?
While Quepos does have a very good selection of small restaurants (called “sodas”) where you can find pretty good local cuisine relatively cheap, however the majority of tourists seem to prefer eating at more expensive places on the road into Manuel Antonio National Park. Again it comes down to what you want.

Manuel Antonio is one of the best parks to visit for wildlife observation. Howler, squirrel, spider and white faced monkeys all inhabit the park. Two-toed and three-toed sloths are abundant as are raccoons, coatis, pacas, anteaters, and occasionally ocelots.
