Can you use FCS 2 fins in FCS 1 plugs?
Yes, you can use all your existing FCS fins with the FCSII system. The FCSII plugs are backwards compatible – grub screws can be used within the FCSII plugs to secure your existing dual tab FCS fins. The infills replicate the flush leading edge of the new fin design improving the performance of the old fins.
Why do pro surfers use large fins?
The size of the fin is going to impact your performance. A larger fin generally will have more hold and also provide plenty of control in bigger surf. A smaller fin, on the other hand, is going to be more forgiving and loose, but you’re going to sacrifice a lot of drive and control in bigger surf.
Are FCS or Future fins better?
While FCS was almost the only choice at the beginning of the century, Futures has grown and improved its alternative fin concept. Surf fins enthusiasts feel that Futures fins are stronger, and when they break, it’s usually in the base. All you need to do is replace the fin instead of repairing the surfboard.
Are FCS fins good?
Overall, the FCS Mick Fanning fin excels in its drive. You’ll feel like your generating speed because you will be. But, you’ll still be able to crank any roundhouse cutbacks or aggressive snaps that you try. It will work best with your high performance shortboard with high rocker on any open faced wave that you surf.
Do all FCS fins fit?
That’s because it is. All you need is an FCSII Infill kit and you FCS fins will fit perfect. Easy.
Whats the difference between FCS 1 and 2?
FCSII is a pre-glass system (installed before the board is laminated) and is stronger than the original FCS system. The unique composite construction allows for an improved bond between the glass and the plug; boosting the impact strength.
