Should I enable lens aberration correction?
In-camera lens aberration correction only works on the jpg output and takes time which would be better spent writing the image to the card. I would only use it when I wanted jpg output straight out of the camera with no post-processing. Definitely switch it off if you’re only saving in Raw format.

WHAT IS lens aberration correction?
Lens Aberration Correction Function You can easily make corrections to drops in peripheral illumination, distortions in the subject, and color blur which occur by the physical characteristics of the lens or slightly remaining aberration. Chromatic aberration (color fringing which occurs in the periphery of an image)
What is Canon Digital Lens Optimizer?
The Digital Lens Optimizer function enables the resolution of images to be increased by removing any remaining aberration related to image-forming capability or any deterioration of resolution resulting from diffraction phenomena. Correction is achieved using the designed value of each lens.
Can chromatic aberration be corrected?
To correct chromatic aberration, achromatic or apochromatic lenses or lens groups are used. Sophisticated design and optimisation software has made possible the design of highly-corrected optical systems, but high machining accuracies and close tolerances are required in manufacture.
What does lens correction do iPhone?
With Lens Correction, when you take a selfie with the front-facing camera or a photo with the Ultra Wide (0.5x) lens, it automatically enhances the photos to make them appear more natural. To turn this off, go to Settings > Camera, and turn off Lens Correction.

How is chromatic aberration corrected?
Chromatic aberration can be corrected approximately by using materials that exhibit complementary dispersion, as in an achromatic doublet and triplet9,10,11. However, this technique is cumbersome, since the number of materials equals the number of wavelengths where the chromatic aberrations are minimized10,11.
What is lens Correction in photo editing?
The Lens correction tool fixes lens issues such as distortion and perspective. Since each lens is uniquely designed, the lens corrections are applied depending upon your lens model. Now switch on the Lens Corrections toggle.
How to enable peripheral illumination correction in the camera?
Turn the < > dial to select [ Peripheral illumin. ], then press < >. Select [ Enable ], then press < >. 3 Take the picture. The camera already contains lens peripheral illumination correction data and chromatic aberration correction data for approx. 25 lenses.
What is peripheral illumination chromatic aberration?
Lens Peripheral Illumination / Chromatic Aberration Correction Peripheral light fall-off occurs in lenses whose characteristics make the image corners look darker. Color fringing along subject outlines also is a chromatic aberration. Light fall-off and color fringing can be corrected.
How do I enable lens aberration correction on my camera?
Click [Lens aberration correction] or [Peripheral illumin. correct.] in the [ ] tab. For cameras where [Peripheral illumin. correct.] is displayed in the menu, only lens peripheral illumination correction data is registered or deleted.
How to register correction data for the selected lens?
Click the lens category for which you want to register correction data. 5. A list appears showing only the selected lens category. Select the lens for which you want to register correction data and click the [OK]. 6. The correction data for the selected lens is registered in the camera.
