Is the vg30 a good engine?
VG is the best (reliability wise) engine Nissan has ever built and arguably the best engine they’ve every built. They say VG30E lasts forever, but dont forget to replace the timing belt every 60k miles. I am at about 200,000 miles on my car and my neigbor has 225,000 on his and both cars are still running like new!!

How reliable is a VG30DE?
vg30de motors are very durable… the weak point in both NA and TT is the pistons… NA boosted (around 400rwhp properly tuned) TT moded around 650rwhp… put some forged pistons in there and 800+rwhp is definitely doable! the engine wiring harness is an issue with corrosion, but only after about 10years of age.
How much power can a VG30E handle?
Keep the fuel supply there and you can actually run quite a bit on a stock internal VG. There are guys pulling 300, 400, even 500 whp on stock internal VG30E’s. Detonation is the quickest killer so definitely have a good fuel system.

As with most others, there isn’t really a design flaw with the VG33E that causes common premature failures. Timing belts are standard maintenance that should be done every ~100,000 miles on the VG engine. However, the Nissan 3.3 V6 is an interference engine.
