Getting your first job in clinical research can be challenging, and many graduates at the start of their clinical research career can become frustrated by the ‘catch 22’ scenario: they can’t find work because of a lack of experience and they can’t get experience because they can’t find work.
What do CRA do?
A clinical research associate (CRA) is a health care or life sciences professional who oversees clinical trials on behalf of pharmaceutical companies, medical research institutes and government agencies. They are sometimes called clinical monitors or trial monitors.
Why do you want to become a CRA?
Clinical research can make all the difference when it comes to saving peoples’ lives, or improving their quality of life. Even if the work you do might not result in an immediate breakthrough, it will be put in a database where other scientists can study your research and work towards making their own.
Is CRA job stressful?
CRAs have a sedentary lifestyle due to office work and traveling. Reduced exercise does not lower stress hormones, so the body can remain in a fight-or-flight status. CRAs’ sleep patterns can be affected by travel, staying in hotels, and workload. This was mentioned by some CRAs who completed the survey I conducted.
What can you do with a degree in clinical research?
You can then apply these learning as you advance in your clinical research career. You’ll learn a lot about health care regulations, patient safety and how decisions are made inside government agencies. This is an incredibly valuable experience to have early on in your career

Just start going through these associations one by one, reach out the Executive Director of each of these organizations and inquire about volunteering, full-time or part-time opportunities
How much experience do I need to work in clinical research?
