How much is a TellSpec?
There’s also the price: The TellSpec is currently on pre-order for a very attainable $320.
Is TellSpec real?
Food fraud is real, and we’re calling for a clean food revolution. Our customized spectroscopy technologies are here to help.
Who invented the TellSpec?
Around 3,000 food items were scanned to create the initial database, but TellSpec can potentially identify an unlimited number of ingredients, according to Founder and CEO Isabel Hoffmann, who developed the scanner along with mathematician Stephen Watson.
How TellSpec works?
TellSpec is a handheld device that uses spectroscopy, the interaction between matter and electromagnetic radiation, to determine the ingredients and calories in food. Basically, pointing its near infrared beam at a sample allows some of the sample’s low energy photons to be reflected back to the scanner.
How much does a food scanner cost?
Most production scanners will cost between $5000 and $100,000 depending on a number of variables such as speed, brand, resolution, features, and throughput.
What information could the scanner provide about each food?
You could count its calories, know all its ingredients, and know whether it is spoiled or contaminated.
How does food scanner work?
Founded in 2014, the startup developed a food scanner based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy. They scan food with light and observe how this interacts with the objects. This data is then sent to the cloud which analyses it and reports back information on the matter. The information goes straight to their own apps.

What is Dietsensor?
The Double E Ultrasonic Diameter Sensor uses sound waves to measure distance from the sensor to the roll of material. Distance is calculated by measuring the time it takes for the sensor to emit the sound wave and then receive it back after it has been reflected off the outer surface of the roll.
