How many seats does a train carriage have?
In standard-gauge cars, seating is usually configured into ranges from three to five seats across the width of the car, with an aisle in between (resulting in arrangements of 2+1, 2+2 or 3+2 seats) or at the side. Tables may be provided between seats facing one another.
How do you choose seats on Amtrak?
Your seat will be automatically designated when you complete your reservation. You may change your reserved seat at any time after your booking is complete using interactive seat maps on the Amtrak app or on Amtrak.com. There is no fee to change your seat.
Do you have to sit in reserved seat on train?
You are allowed to sit in reserved seats that are not occupied. If you speak to a conductor on a busy train they will tell you to do this. It’s usually obvious a few minutes after departure that the person who made the reservation is not coming. So even on busy trains people will walk past empty reserved seats.

The sleeper class contains 72 seats/berths and has toilets on either side of the compartment. The berths include Lower, Middle, Upper, Side Lower, and Side Upper berths. You can find the seat numbers on the outside of the train as well as the seat numbers are etched for every berth.
Can you sit in first class if it’s empty train?
