How do you mix GFRC?
Mixing GFRC
- Add all of the sand, some of the water and one fourth of the cement, and mix it.
- Gradually add the rest of the cement and water. Hopefully you will not get lumps of cement that don’t break up.
- Once this is fully mixed, add the fiber.
How do you make a slurry coat?
The ratio for a basic concrete slurry mix is 1 or 2 parts Portland cement to 1 part water. Start with equal parts cement and water, and then add more cement until you have the desired consistency.
How do you make a slurry coat for concrete countertops?
In a separate container, measure out 6 ounces (175mL) of water. Slowly add the water to the dry ingredients. Add only enough water to create a toothpaste-like consistency. You will need approximately 6 ounces (175mL) of water for a whole bag of slurry, depending on color.
How do you keep ghosting off concrete countertops?
If an overlay or opaque coating is going to be applied to a floor with the potential for ghosting or shadowing, a high-solids primer or crack-suppression system is a must. These resin- and cement-based primer systems act as physical barriers and prevent shadowing from appearing on the surface.
How do you fix air pockets in concrete?
Techniques used during vibration can eliminate most surface voids. Vibrating both the outside and inside of your mold will draw most air and water bubbles away from the surface of the concrete. Hammering the mold can eliminate any residual voids.
How long does GFRC take to cure?
5-7 days
GFRC does not need to be moist cured. GFRC uses a polymer that acts as an internal barrier to keep moisture inside, and that is what achieves “moist curing” over 5-7 days.
What is the mix ratio for a Spatterdash coat?
A spatterdash coat mix should be prepared using one part of cement to 2 parts of coarse sand with just sufficient water containing a bonding agent such as styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) to form a thick slurry. The spatterdash should be thrown against the background with a small scoop to form a layer of 3-5mm thickness.
