How do nest box cameras work?

How big does a starling nest box need to be?
The Starling nest box is made of pine, has a 45mm entrance hole and is 33.5cm high, 25cm wide and 32cm deep, an ideal volume for Starlings. The nest box is easy to hang (at least 2 metres high but preferably higher) and has an inspection hatch to make cleaning easy.
Where is the best place to put a nesting box?
Choosing the location Unless there are trees or buildings which shade the box during the day, face the box between north and east, thus avoiding strong sunlight and the wettest winds. Make sure that the birds have a clear flight path to the nest without any clutter directly in front of the entrance.
Should I empty my nest box?
We recommend that old nests be removed in the autumn, from September onwards once the birds have stopped using the box. Use boiling water to kill any remaining parasites, and let the box dry out thoroughly before replacing the lid. Insecticides and flea powders must not be used.
What months do birds nest?

Do starlings nest in bird houses?

Do nesting boxes need to be elevated?
While chicken nest boxes should be elevated, it is most important that they be lower than the lowest roosting poles in your coop. Usually, one nest box for every 4-5 hens is enough. It is not uncommon for all the hens to lay in one or two favorite nesting boxes, even when you’ve provided many other nesting options!
Can I move a nesting box?
Is it legal to move or destroy active birds’ nests? Almost certainly no. All birds their nests and eggs are protected by law: the Wildlife & Countryside Act of 1981. This makes it an offence, with certain exceptions, to deliberately take, damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built.
Can you put a camera in a bird box?
The best type of bird box to use is one with a removable roof as it makes it a lot easier to mount the camera. Bird box cameras come with secure brackets in the box so that you can attach it to the roof of the box; it’s simply the matter of attaching it with a few small screws.
