How often should you season a cigar humidor?
If you live in a dry climate or experience seasonal dryness, we recommend re-seasoning a wooden humidor one to two times a year.
How often should you change the humidifier in a humidor?
How long do cigar humidifiers last? If you use an electronic humidifier, it can last forever without needing to be replaced. Floral foam humidifiers need to be replaced about every six to 12 months.
How long can cigars last in a humidor?
A rule of thumb cigar collectors follow is to refine their purchased cigars by storing them in a humidor for at least 3 months after purchase before smoking them. The ideal span of aging lighter cigars is 6 months to one year, and the flavor will continue to improve for up to 10 years.
Should cigars be left in the wrapper in a humidor?
Having the wrapper on in the humidor is totally fine because the cigar is still going to retain its moisture. Everyone loves a well-aged cigar and if that is what you’re going for it might make sense to remove the wrapper and carefully store them in your humidor until they are ready.

Premium cigars don’t respond well to lots of fluctuation in temperature or humidity. You can boost the humidity up a bit when the temperature is cooler, but we don’t recommend exceeding 72% RH. Your cigars will smoke perfectly as long as you maintain a steady environment between 63 to 70 degrees and 65 to 72% RH.
How do you recharge a humidor?
To charge your humidification unit, fill the unit by pouring distilled water into the vents over the sink. Or if you’re using propylene glycol, squirt the solution directly into the vents. You can also fill a dish with cold distilled water and submerge the entire unit in the water until it is saturated.
How do I know if my humidor is good?
If the lid drops closed with a thud, the seal is less than satisfactory. If it makes that whoosh sound, then your humidor should seal up nicely. You might even notice the lid slowly settle into place as it closes for that last half inch.
Can mold be removed from cigars?
Cigars with small, isolated spots of mold can often be saved with a bit of treatment. Gently wipe off the cigar, being careful not to spread the mold to a wider area. Dip a cotton swab in a spirit with high alcohol content like vodka or 151-proof rum and apply it to the spots.
