Do you need a Licence to operate a scissor lift in WA?
No. There is no requirement to hold a WP High Risk Work Licence to operate a scissor lift. However it is necessary to be trained and familiar with in the equipment you are using. Training can be obtained by undertaking an EWPA Yellow Card course.
Do you need a qualification to operate a scissor lift?
The Operator’s Manual and a copy of the current 6 monthly Certificate of Thorough Examination for the Scissor Lift is required. Successful delegates will receive a 3a Mobile Vertical IPAF PAL Card valid for 5 years and an IPAF Certificate of Training for the 3a Mobile Vertical.
Is a scissor lift an EWP?
Scissor/Vertical Lifts and Truck/Trailer mounted EWP’s To confuse matters, a Scissor Lift is not defined as a boom type EWP (ie does not have the capacity to slew). HRWS offers nationally recognised training in Scissor Lifts, Vertical Mast Lifts or Trailer/Truck Mounted EWP’s dependent on your specific requirements.
How long is EWP training?

How long does a scissor lift licence last?
The majority of IPAF MEWP, MCWP and Construction Hoist courses, if passed, will qualify you for a Powered Access Licence (PAL Card), which is globally recognised and proof that you have been trained to the highest standard. Your PAL Card lasts for five years (dependent on your country/regions regulations).
