Can I use a miter saw as a table saw?
Although the miter saw looks like the table saw, it is entirely different. In fact, the only way that the miter saw is like the table saw is that the blade is upward and that the tool cuts wood. Unlike the table saw, a miter saw isn’t built into a table. Instead, it is simply a machine tool you can place on the table.
What is a combination saw?
A combination blade has a combination tooth configuration with groups of five teeth — four ATBs and one FT — and a large gullet after each group. A gullet is a space cut into the blade that allows for chip removal.
Can you cut a 2×6 with a 10 inch miter saw?
The bigger the blade, the deeper and wider its maximum cut. Typically, a 10-inch miter saw will cut a 2 x 6 at 90 degrees and a 2 x 4 at 45 degrees; a 12-inch miter saw will cut a 2 x 8 at 90 degrees and a 2 x 6 at 45 degrees. The sliding action can cut even wider boards.
Can a table saw do everything a miter saw can?
While a miter saw cannot cut large pieces of wood, a table saw can make virtually any cut a miter saw can make—with a lower level of precision.
What is the difference between single bevel and dual bevel miter saw?
A single bevel miter saw can only tilt in one direction (either left or right). A dual bevel miter saw can tilt in both directions.
What is a combination miter saw blade?
(Combination blades are designed to crosscut and rip. General-purpose blades are designed to make all types of cuts, including in plywood, laminated wood and melamine.)
Are combination saw blades good?
While they may not be the best blade for ripping or cross cuts, they can do both effectively, eliminating the need to change blades mid-project. Combination blades work well for projects that demand both types of cuts but don’t necessarily need the smooth finish of a crosscut blade or the speed of a ripping blade.
