Are Oz posts worth it?
Are Oz-Posts as strong as concrete? Oz-Posts have been tested to high levels of horizontal forces and have been found more than suitable for the majority of fencing and sign projects. A fence or sign constructed as recommended using Oz-Posts will be equally as strong as traditional concrete installation.

Which Oz-Post do I need?
A good rule of thumb is to use the longest Oz-Post® that can be easily driven into the ground. The more firm and compacted the ground is the shorter Oz-Post® you will require.
How do I remove Oz-Post?
How to remove an Oz-Post Post Anchor:
- Use a 6′ long pry bar.
- Place the pry bar under the housing.
- Find a piece of wood or concrete building block and place it approximately 10” from the Oz-Post.
- Use the piece of wood or concrete building block to lever the post out of the ground.
Should I cement my deck posts?
A deck post should always be placed on top of footing, not inside concrete because it can break. When concrete is poured around a deck post in this way, the post will rot due to moisture buildup by the soil.
Can I use 4×4 for deck posts?
In the past, many decks were built with 4×4 support posts (also called structural posts). But these can bow seriously, even if a deck is only 3 feet off the ground. For that reason, we strongly recommend that you use 6x6s instead, even if your building department does not demand them.
Will decking posts rot in concrete?
The post will only rot at ground level, it does not matter what you put in the bottom of the hole. A pressure treated post will last around 10 years. if you use metposts the post will still rot they just make it easier to replace & in my opinion they look horrible.
Are 2 2x4s as strong as a 4×4?
When used vertically, 4x4s are stronger than two 2x4s. However, if you need a horizontal surface, two 2x4s will be stronger than one 4×4. A 4×4 should not be used horizontally for anything structural. Always be sure that you’re using the proper size and strength of lumber.
