Are guide R brakes any good?
Overall Review: The Guide R has good modulation and it improved my braking skills. I like the tool-free adjustment knob on the lever throw. I was able to adjust the lever until it touches the grips for the brakes to stop the bike.
Are XT brakes good?
Overall. The latest Shimano XT brakes should satisfy most trail riders, though diehard fans of the line might need a little coaxing to appreciate the updates. With dependable performance plus easy set-up and maintenance, XT brakes are still the ones to beat.
Are SRAM guide t brakes good?
The SRAM Guide T offers reliable stopping power and consistent performance. It has a revised lever design and lightweight four-piston caliper. With SRAM’s Directlink lever, updated master cylinder and timing port closure, all combined to provide a more positive braking system.
Are SRAM guide R brakes good?
Guide RE. Probably our favourite brake in the lineup, the Guide RE’s are a great price and offer superb stopping power, so much so that they are specced on lots of e-bikes. SRAM say they are designed to handle higher speeds and the more intense use that comes due to the increased weight of an e-bike.
Are SRAM guide re bleeding edge?
The Guide RE is a low-level brake, and as such it has low-level features. There is no contact point adjust and the lever does not feature Swinglink like SRAM’s higher level brakes, which means lever feel isn’t great. The caliper does not feature SRAM’s Bleeding Edge bleed port, so bleeding is a little more tricky.
Which SRAM brake is best?
SRAM Code RSC will be SRAM’s most powerful brake, also having tons of downhill World Cup wins under its belt, the Code RSC can perform at the highest level. Featuring the contact adjust like the G2 Ultimate and RSC, the Code RSC feels great and has the power as well.
What is the difference between SRAM guide R and T?
The biggest changes between the Guide T and the Guide R, its most comparable stablemate, are evident at the lever: The Guide T requires a hex wrench to adjust the reach compared to the tool-less reach adjust on the Guide R. Since this is usually a once and done adjustment at initial set up it’s a minor detail.
Why choose Shimano XT brakes?
Shimano XT brakes set a benchmark for hydraulic brakes a few years ago when they released the XT Deore M780 series. A reliable brake with tons of power, many bikes from high end to low end started to rock the Shimano XT brakes. Many OEM bikes started coming with SRAM drivetrains and Shimano brakes.
What is the difference between SRAM guide brakes and SRAM XT stoppers?
The SRAM lever has a slightly softer initial feel that doesn’t snatch your attention in the same manner. Pull a little harder however and the power comes on strong. The Guide brakes feed the power on steadily, making it easier to hold that fine edge between rolling and locking. That’s not to say you can’t modulate the power with the XT stoppers.
Should I get XTS or RSC brakes?
Pulling manuals is easier to begin with on the RSC brakes as they do not have as hard of a bite as the XTs. While the hard bite of the XTs might feel like they are more powerful to begin with, once both brakes are pulled in hard and you are looking to stop fast, I feel they both have equivalent power.
How do the guide brakes work?
The Guide brakes feed the power on steadily, making it easier to hold that fine edge between rolling and locking. That’s not to say you can’t modulate the power with the XT stoppers. You certainly can but you need to get used to the lever feel and have a lighter touch at the bite point.
