What is a Shop Hop?
Quite simply, a Shop Hop is when quilters visit multiple quilt shops in a single trip, or over the course of a few days. Usually, you’ll purchase the passport for a few dollars at one of the participating quilt shops. Each quilt shop on the list you visit will stamp your passport. Some may even give you a free gift!

What tension should I use for quilting?
For my quilts I use 40- or 50-weight thread made of cotton or high quality polyester. I find that the thinner thread sinks into the quilt and adds to the quilt top instead of distracting from my piecing. This is truly a personal preference.

Once your piece is quilted, you need to make the edges even and square before adding your binding. It is easier and more accurate to trim the quilt sandwich if the three layers are sewn together at the edge. Otherwise, the bottom layer can shift and you end up with edges that are not the same.
How far apart can quilting lines be?
P.S. While batting manufacturers recommend quilting distances of up to 8″ to 10″, if your quilt will be washed or heavily used, do consider adding more quilting stitches than that. The closer the quilting lines are to each other, the less stress there is on each individual stitch.
