Is Haverford open to visitors?
Haverford College is an open campus, and visitors are welcome. With the exception of scheduled events, though, the campus closes to visitors at dusk. We also ask the following: Please leash and clean up after your dog.
Can you visit Haverford College?
We are excited to welcome prospective students and their families to Haverford. We offer self-guided campus tours during times when the admission office is closed. All visitors to campus must follow Admission Visitor Policies for masking and social distancing.
Is Haverford College a party school?
We’re definitely not a big party school, but we’re also very small and parties are basically just getting together with friends, drinking, talking, and just relaxing and having a good time. You make your own party and life on campus doesn’t center around huge frat parties.

The students are really nice, interesting people, and even if people are a bit awkward sometimes, they are generally very well-intentioned. The honor code, which some students say doesn’t really work, is really important because it allows a lot more freedom in the structure of learning and of life in general.

Probably the number one stereotype is that Haverford students are awkward. Second would be cliquey. It has a reputation for being full of ric, preppy kids that contrast the the small selection of glammed up hippies that are there to be anthro majors and save the world upon graduation.

In the 2020 U.S. News ranking of liberal arts colleges, Haverford scored 88 points out of a possible 100, good enough to tie for #11 with Colby College and Smith College.
What do Haverford students call themselves?
In the mid-1990s, the college actually made a decision: the official nickname would remain “Fords,” Haverford would adopt a mascot in the form of a Black Squirrel (and had a costume made up which, however, resembled a chipmunk) and teams would be free among themselves on campus to call themselves whatever they wanted.
