How do you get approved for CME?
CME provider requirements
- Be accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) or a recognized state medical society (SMS).
- Meet all requirements of both the AMA and their accreditor (ACCME or SMS).
What is AMA accredited?
The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide high-quality educational activities that enhance the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors of all physicians.

How to get CME approved?
CME activities may be submitted through a single Submission Form for review by multiple Member Boards. Completed submission forms are presented to the targeted ABMS Member Boards for review. Once approved, ABMS will contact the provider with information about which Member Boards approved the activity and the type of approval granted.
