What kind of dye do you use for denim?
We generally recommend using 4 ounces of liquid dye (or one powder dye package) to dye one pair of jeans. However, if you are trying to achieve the darkest color possible, we recommend using the whole bottle (or two packages of powder dye). Add well-shaken dye to dye bath.
Do washing machine dyes work?
The dye CAN dye the seal of machines, as they’re made from different material to the drum, but follow the instructions and the dye won’t affect future wash loads. It is hard to say for sure though as I don’t often look at the cleanliness of my washing machine drum!

Does Rit dye ruin washing machine?
If you have never used dye in a washing machine, we get why you would be nervous! Nonetheless, we can promise you Rit won’t permanently stain any metal component on your machine. Rit has been used in washing machines for decades, dating back to the time when the electric washing machine was invented in the 1950s.
Will fabric dye stain my washing machine?
Will dye residues remain in the washing machine after dyeing? The staining will not affect following washing loads. You are advised to follow the instructions in the pack and to clean the machine with a separate empty wash cycle (40°) after dyeing.

Yes, Machine Fabric Dye or Wash & Dye are best for dyeing denim however you will lose the light dark contrast typically associated with denim.
Can coffee make faded jeans dark again?
Stylist’s Tip: Coffee can also be used to darken other black clothing that has started to fade. Just add 2 cups of coffee to your rinse cycle on cold and voila!
