Grav Labs manufactures in China because the average glassblowing job in the US pays $15/hour and the same position in Tianjin is $1.15. It’s one of many reasons that Chinese made products are significantly cheaper than the same product Made in USA.

Where are GRAV products made? GRAV sources most of our raw materials and finished products from a factory in China, with whom we’ve worked closely for years. We consider the glass artists there to be part of our family, and we’re deeply invested in their success and well being.
Why are grav labs so expensive?
GRAV uses the finest borosilicate, a type of glass with a high silica content that’s heat-tolerant and chemically inert. Quartz is 100% silica, making it even more durable than borosilicate. However, it’s more expensive than borosilicate, which is why we only use it for smaller pieces.

Every piece we sell is designed, prototyped, inspected for quality, and shipped from our headquarters in Austin, Texas.
