What is a WFI still?
Our Multiple Effect Stills are designed and manufactured according to cGMP to produce Water for Injection (WFI). Each unit contains a number of boiling columns (or effects) with the first column producing pure steam, which is condensed and re-distilled in the following columns decreasing operational costs.
Can you drink WFI water?
Yes you can drink WFI but it is a very huge waste of money to do so unless there is a specific need for it. For those who are immunosuppressed such a bone marrow transplant patients or those with severely compromised immune systems, drinking WFI or USP Purified water is advantageous to eliminate the risk of infection.
What is the difference between WFI and sterile WFI?
What is sterile water for injection? This refers to water used to dissolve or dilute a substance or preparation to be administered via injection or other intravenous methods. It differs from WFI because it has gone through an additional sterilization process.
What is WFI in pharma?
Water for Injection (WFI) is a water quality standard defined by pharmacopeial groups worldwide.
Why WFI should be stored at 2 C or 80 C?
According to the USP, a temperature of 80 °C during sanitisation serves to achieve the necessary germicidal temperature even at colder points in the (ring pipe) system. A suitable reduction of the sanitising temperature can therefore reduce operating costs, decrease rouging and extend the longevity of plant components.
What is the pH of WFI?
Sterile Water for Injection, USP, is sterile, nonpyrogenic, distilled water in a single dose container for intravenous administration after addition of a suitable solute. It may also be used as a dispensing container for diluent use. No antimicrobial or other substance has been added. The pH is 5.5 (5.0 to 7.0).
What does WFI taste like?
A : Raw watercress has a peppery taste, similar to other related plants like mustard and wasabi.
What is the conductivity of WFI?
1.3 µS/cm
Specification for Water for Injection (WFI) as per USP
Sr.No. | Test | Acceptance criteria |
---|---|---|
3 | Conductivity (at 25°C) | Less than 1.3 µS/cm |
4 | Bacterial Endotoxins | Less than 0.25 EU/ml. |
5 | Microbial limit test | |
a. | Total aerobic microbial count | Less than 10 cfu / 100ml. |
What is the temperature of WFI?
WFI is condensed and is generally kept at 80 – 90 ºC to maintain its properties. The main difference between a PW and a WFI loop is that the purified water is held at room temperature while the WFI is kept at 80-90oC.
Is WFI deionized?
The extent of purification needed depends on its use and the quality of raw water. Ultrapure Water (UPW), Water for Injection (WFI), High-purity Water and Deionized (DI) are all terms describing basically the same property.
