How does UCLA dining work?
This is our most flexible meal plan. It offers a preset number of meals at the beginning of each academic quarter. Unused meals carry over from week to week and can be used at any time during the quarter for extra meals and snacks for you, your friends, or family. All meals must be used by the end of the quarter.
Can you live off-campus freshman year at UCLA?
While most first-years live in the on-campus dorms, collectively referred to as the Hill, they are not required to do so. After their first two years, people usually move off-campus into UCLA-affiliated or non-affiliated apartments for their remaining years.

COVID-19 DINING INFORMATION UCLA Housing has modified our service methodology and activities to support the health and safety of all. Currently our residential restaurants are only open to those living in the on-campus residential halls located on the Hill.
Are kettles allowed in UCLA dorms?
UCLA thinks they are so dangerous they can even start fires in students’ rooms. UCLA Housing’s on-campus housing regulations prohibit students from owning coffee makers, space heaters, water heaters, toasters and microwaves.
What is not allowed in UCLA dorms?
Residents need to bring their own towels, pillows, linens to fit an extra long twin bed (36″ x 80″), and a non-halogen desk lamp. Students also provide their own soap, shampoo, etc. While free standing microwaves are not allowed, students may want to order a combination microwave and mini fridge- a microfridge!
What meal plan is best at UCLA?
Bruin Premier 19 This is UCLA’s meal plan that offers the most flexibility (allowing for 19 swipes a week) which roll over week to week until the end of the quarter. Even better, this plan allows students to swipe more than once during any given meal period, which means food for friends and family too!
