Does GSP cuddle?
These dogs make affectionate pets and like to cuddle but have low tolerance towards other animals. Along with exercise requirements, these high-energy dogs also need attention, company, and care to lead a healthy life. The German shorthaired pointer is a member of the AKC sporting group of dogs.
How many hours of exercise does a GSP need?
The GSP requires serious exercise: running, swimming, long walks, playing in a fenced area, and anything else you can do to take the edge off their energy. Two daily sessions of ample physical activity are recommended, though with a GSP, there’s no such thing as too much exercise.
Are GSP dogs clingy?

Why do pointers shiver?
The Short Haired German Pointer is an excitable dog because he likes to be active. After a spell in a dam or river, your dog is going to shake off the excess water on his coat. The action of shaking off the water and having a good shiver helps prevent hypothermia, as well as dry off your dog.
Do GSP dogs smell?
While German Shorthaired Pointers do have a unique smell, they do not naturally stink. However, some factors may lead to them smelling bad. With proper diet, grooming routine and health care, your stinky German Shorthaired Pointer will be smelling better in no time.
Should I get a male or female GSP?
Females are easier to train than males, although they are less food motivated. They are more focused with longer attention spans and don’t require ongoing training maintenance. If you want your German Shorthaired Pointer to be off-leash trained, females will do this a lot easier than males.
How fast do GSP puppies grow?
Though your GSP might look physically mature by the age of six months, it can take a few years for these dogs to mature out of puppy behaviors—which equates to a puppy with the strength of a full-grown dog (hence the need for training).
