John Grettenberger, 53, is president and CEO of LorAnn Oils, a manufacturer/distributor of premium flavorings and essential oils. The company was founded 55 years ago by his grandfather, a pharmacist, who sold peppermint, clove and similar oils to pharmacies.
Are LorAnn Oils artificial?

Does LorAnn Oils expire?
If stored properly, most flavors should last several years. Citrus oils degrade more quickly, but can be refrigerated to extend shelf life. If your essential oils or flavors look cloudy, have an off smell or lose their intense aroma, it’s time to buy new.

These flavorings are formulated to be the same strength as an “extract” (1 teaspoon emulsion = 1 teaspoon extract), but instead of the flavor being diluted in alcohol, it is suspended in a water-base.
