Are roll pins and spring pins the same?
A spring pin is an unthreaded mechanical fastener that expands to securely fit in a hole. Spring pins, also known as roll pins, are designed to be inserted into a hole that has a smaller diameter than the pin. In this case, a pin that’s longer than the diameter of the shaft must be used.
Is standard for spring pin?
STANDARD SPRING PINS. Standard spring pins are manufactured to ASME B18. Standard finishes for high carbon steel spring pins are either light oil or zinc. Standard stainless steel spring pins are passivated.
Where should spring pins be used?
They are crafted from alloy steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel featuring spring like elastic properties. Spring pins are used as locking devices, positioning points, anti‑chafing surfaces, shafts, or sleeves for wiring.
How does spring loaded pin work?
A basic spring-loaded pin consists of 3 main parts: a plunger, barrel, and spring. When force is applied to the pin, the spring is compressed and the plunger moves inside the barrel. The shape of the barrel retains the plunger, stopping the spring from pushing it out when the pin is not locked in place.
What sizes do roll pins come in?

What is a Sellock pin?
Sellock Spring Pins also known as ‘Slotted’ and ‘C’ Spring pins have a slot along the length of one side which expands and creates tension against the wall of an unthreaded hole.
What is a Springbar?
Simply put, spring bars are small pieces of metal that are used to hold watch straps in place. Normally, there are two of them, but occasionally, a strap may have four or even six spring bars on it.
What is a watch pin?
Watch Pins and Watch Band Pins Watch band pins help to secure the watch band to the case, secure the clasp or catch to the watch band, and are also used to connect links. The watch band pins can be removed and replaced fairly easily with very few watch band tools.
What does a spring pin look like?
Spring pins have a body diameter which is larger than the hole diameter, and a chamfer on either one or both ends to facilitate starting the pin into the hole. The force exerted by the pin against the hole wall retains it in the hole, therefore a spring pin is considered a self retaining fastener.
What is spring dowel pin?
Spring dowel pins are slotted pin made from high carbon spring steel material. They can also be manufactured from stainless steel material. Spring Dowel pin is accurately made to diameter greater than the drilled hole into which it is pressed.
