What is LEWA pump?
LEWA is known worldwide as a specialist and market leader in the handling of supercritical fluids and the use of diaphragm metering pumps, packed plunger metering pumps and process pumps. LEWA pumps provide high metering accuracy and are durable, reliable, safe and highly efficient.
How does a metering pump work?
A metering pump moves a precise volume of liquid in a specified time period providing an accurate volumetric flow rate. The liquid being pumped goes through the pump head, entering through an inlet line and leaving through an outlet line. The motor is commonly an electric motor which drives the pump head.
Can you Cavitate a diaphragm pump?
In case of cavitation, the vapour bubbles rise from the suction pipe towards the diaphragm pump, where they undergo a drastic increase in pressure (in practice they are crushed violently) and this causes a violent implosion, recognizable by a characteristic noise, i.e. as if gravel was passing through the pump.
Can you backflow through a diaphragm pump?
If you are pumping something with solids, the check valves in diaphragm pumps can also hang up allowing back flow.
Where is metering pump used?
When are metering pumps used? Traditionally, metering pumps are used when the flow rate of a liquid needs to be regularly measured and adjusted to specific doses. They are commonly found to pump chemicals in water treatment applications, such as water for drinking, swimming pool or treatment in wastewater.
Are metering pumps positive displacement?
Metering pumps can be considered a subset of positive displacement pumps. Both pumps discharge a known volume with every revolution or cycle.
